dawn of the dead - pt 3

welcome back, gentle reader

have you noticed, that intro is always in the singular ? I just have ... ho hum.

okely dokely. well there is actually fcuk (©dD)(the mis-spelling, for the blind or dyslexic) all to actually update as far as the $55 tourneys go, so I 'll give you a quick resume ...

played a total of 9 so far and placed thus 2-6-2-7-6-1-6-1-1

a very very small sanple I know but I was really chuffed, I did think I was gonna get totally felted, to be honest. The most pleasing result was a first place on 'stars in the plO8 game.
so where the hell did the money come from to enter these big buy-in tourneys ... you know me, if I lose $5 I am pissed for the rest of the week ...

sorry, where were we ? oh I, the money ... saved it up ... difficult since my salary account is my mortgage account ... paper statements ... mrs dD likes to look ... personally, I think she realises I play for money and is checking I aint re-mortgaged the fcuking(©dD) house !!

she is actually quite safe on that front as I am not really a gambler per se .... never done horses, footie coupons etc etc etc

I do admit to being a "degenerate poker playing blogger"
or should that be a "blogging poker playing degenerate" ...... both of those ©dD ...... he he he
personally I "prefer" the former ... better ring to it ....

wow strayed a little there ... so I thought I was good enough to play the higher buy-in ... but wanted to keep that money as a separate bank ... using neteller, I'd transfer the buy-in to my account and play the tourney, any winnings were immediately transfered back to neteller ... that plan went tits up right at the off and again right at the end

bodog the bastards, this was supposed to be a short post with no ranting ... fcuk it, to late

***rant***
bodog will take your money in 3 microseconds flat. (from neteller)
so I win $165 and want to transfer $105 back to neteller ... uh uh no no no
seem I once funded my account from a debit card and to transfer funds out my account I need to do the following ...
fax a bill to them, fax a bank account statement to them, copy and fax id (passport) to them ...
it gets worse !!
photocopy the front AND back of debit card and fax to them
it cannot get worse ... oh yes it fcuking well can ...
print off some form from their web and .. get this ...
do a brass rubbing type thing of the front of the debit card onto the damn form ... fax it to them ...
for fcuk sake ... send a rep over here and we can do it in person ... as long as the rep is one of the bodog girls ... and not a bodog gorilla ...
jesus h christ on a fcuking bike ... and the worst ? I do like to play at bodog ... bastards !
***rant***

so there ya go folks, thats the latest, well almost. It went tits up right at the end as well. Won one on titan and wanted the $250 ... applied to transfer the funds ... got a strange email from them ... something to do with sending stuff ... 3 days later fedex turn up and this was in the letter ...

Now I have to pay the cheque into my poker "account" and transfer back to neteller.

Playing poker seemed so simple at first.

Freeway Spanking Drunk - pt 1 & pt 2

welcome back, gentle reader.

allow me to point you in the direction of "some of the funniest stuff ever written on the internets."

"Losers, Inc."

unfortunately, not written by me ! but 100% fucking hilarious. oh, and a word of warning ...

" Disclaimer.

While we're giving out warnings, I'd say you're a 27.5:1 favorite to be grievously offended by something in here, if you haven't been already. In fact if nothing in this report offends you, you must be some kind of complete degenerate. Like us.

If you can deal with childlike behavior, half-in-the-bag buffoonery, lots of naughty words, and unbridled id, read on. If not, save yourself the aggravation.

Disclaimer time is over. You have been warned. Continue at your own peril. "

go and read " Losers, inc " ... if you dare

Spartacus - pt 1

welcome back, gentle reader

straight to it ... in a minute you'll find ouy why "straight" is painful. I sincerely hope posts with this title are few and far between.

I am in the bb 1k/2k blinds got about t15,000

all fold to the button who pops it for 5k ... got him covered for 5k

I have ThJh ... sorry, but I gotta call, if he has better he woulda pushed

what can the turn or river bring to beat me ?

turns out he has 1 motherfukking out ... can you guess ? well, can you ?

I certainly could not ...

the turn is a ...... 5 of hearts

still guessing ?

I was still scratching my head when the chips went his way ...

Excalibur - pt 2

welcome back, gentle reader.

perhaps I should stick to playing freerolls ?

the mega HORSE tourney (nearly 5,000 runners) I placed in was a satellite to a $1000 freeroll limit hold'em

2598 runners plus moi :))

three and a half hours later I bust out in 140th place

the top 549 places pay .........

I won ... $1.30 ... no, really, I did

where as a paying tourney .... on stars of course ...

I call an all-in with AA ...

stars see's fit to throw out 4 clubs ... the all-in guy has a club ... ho hum

I should have folded, of course :)

Excalibur - pt 1

Welcome back, gentle reader.

oh how we poker players like to punish ourselves. We sign up for mtt's not really paying attention to things that we should ... number of entrants ... payout structure ... et al.
It was the tourney title that caught my eye " Sagan's HORSE Freeroll " .
and I thought fcuk it, lets get some mtt experience ... and its HORSE so I have a rough idea how to play ...
So I signed up noting about 1,700 entrants with twenty mins to start ... and off I went to do a bit of this and that. Now I know a lot of people deride limit games, but if you have an aggressive table, you can soon find your chips dwindling very fast even with the blinds as low as 10/20.

Lets say four raisers preflop ... t80 to see the flop ... raise raise on the flop ... another t80 to see the turn ... raise raise and t160 to see the river ... raise raise and another t160 to showdown .... run into a few of those type of hands and you don't win the showdown and you'll be railing before you know it ... so beware !!

and thats only the hold'em hands ... cost you a lot more at razz & stud !!

twenty minutes later the tourney window pops open ... wheeeeeeeeee !

off we go, and I'm pondering strategy ... try to chip up early ? difficult in limit 'cause you cant bluff much and need the goods ... you get called down with all sorts of shite ... some of the play is truly atrocious !
strategy taken care of ... big hand, be aggressive !

it was at this point the lobby window caught my eye ... wow ! no way ! can't be !

oh yes ... 4,792 entrants plus moi ...... a whopping 24 seats "pay"

ok heres how the play went .... hah !! only kidding ... I'll give you a summary ...
4h 40mins later ... I am safe ... 18th to be precise
and how much did I scoop ?
looks like the jokes on me ... this was a satellite to a $1000 freeroll ... I kid you not

and its a limit hold'em freeroll as well starts 19.00 sunday ... can I last the two hours before the bloggerment kicks off ?

LIVE at the Glasgow Apollo - pt 2

welcome back, gentle reader.

I really don't know where to start ... under a bit of pressure, since I know my hot tottie favourite exile reads this ... sometimes ... :))

lets do a little Tarantino ...

I had a really really enjoyable night. Acorns company was excellent and we got on well which helped calm me no end, thanks Acorn !! another relaxing factor, all the boys and girls I played with were friendly and had no probs explaining things and generally pointing me in the right direction. Excellent stuff all round and I'd recommend it to anyone.
Glasgow, it was my pleasure.
There was one guy who seemed a little obnoxious, but he was on table one and busted early. And there were plenty of regulars there who seemed ... willing ... to keep him in line :) One guy at the final table summed him up " ... he is a fcuking arsehole and only plays here 'cause he is barred everwhere else ... " always one I suppose :)

At the beginning I suppose ?

drove into town to meet up with Acorn, arrived at 7pm prompt. No one in sight ... no other parked cars ... the "club" is all locked up ... oh great thinks me. Now, the club is not in the greatest of areas and normally I'd stroll about and walk off the excess nervous energy, not here baby, I was sittin tight in the jalopy ... doors locked, eyes on full scan mode !!

10 mins later the mobile goes ... Acorn, running late, be there in 15 says he ... whew !!

At exactly the same time, a guy has driven up and starts unshackling the front door, of what I assume is the club. This is not your big casino with huge glass frontage and more lights than blackpool .... on the outside its a small industrial type unit, door on the left of a large roller shutter, not a sign or light in sight. Initially this had me running scared but Acorn had assured me it was a lot better on the inside !
True to his word Acorn turns up in his shiny new sporty car ! nice wheels mate !
We both get out and the introductions made. Glad to say my initial assumptions were correct and Acorn is indeed a nice bloke.
Is that a bit girlie ? ok ok he is cool and top bloke ! better ??
We amble in and inside is indeed a lot lot better than the outside would suggest :)
At the "desk" the bloke checks Acorn is still on the database, and he is, I fill out a registration form and that's it.

Welcome to the Wabash Club.

We then ask ... need to stop this "we" shit ... Acorn did all the talking ... me ?? I was as nervous as coo in the abattoir ...
he is told no £5 stt tonite ... £20 freezeout ... yikes !! why do I suddenly feel like this is turning into a baptism of fire ?
anyway, we have half an hour or so to kill before the tourney starts and Acorns been workin late with no dinner, so we jump in his car and "zip" into town for a bite to eat ... wheeeeeee !
No point taking my car, its a 1.2 Punto roughly 0-60 in 3.5 days !
I know I refused your offer of some chips last night, next time I'll be wolfing in there !

Back we go. Inside things are ready to roll, we pay our £20 and the next thing there's a sheet on the wall detailing table number and seat position.
19 runners so 3 tables of six six and seven. I'm table 3 Acorn table 2 both 6 handed as table 1 has seven. Oh oh thinks me ... short handed tables ... bugger ... and to make matters worse there is one guy missing from my table ! so we start with only 5 of us.

before I prattle on any further some game details.
£20 freezeout NLHE with t10,000 starting chips and a free t10,000 add on to be taken anytime during the first hour. blinds start at 100/200 with, I think, 30 minute levels. and the tables are all self dealt.

back to the table. I could not have had a better starting table. Three older guys and a guy about forty and all very friendly, excellent stuff. And some of the banter ... straight off chewin the fat ... brilliant, very relaxing ... welcome to live poker indeedy ! Quite funny really since the other 17 runners all new each other on first name terms ... Acorn and I stuck out like sore thumbs I suspect ... so all the guys introduce themselves and ask my name. they all remember my name but the only name I remember from my first table is the guy who was missing ! and he turned up about 15 mins later.

Dont remember any specific hands from the first table but I do recall raising with AK and two callers ... missed the damn flop completely ... sooooo easy to make a c-bet online .... almost checked it but I had position, there was a Q on a ragged rainbow flop so I bet out and the other two folded ... whew !!

That was one of the very very few hands I played. I was playing super tight. Probably to tight if I'd picked up a monster I think the others would have folded. and before I know it the first hour is over, and I'm handed my t10,000 add on without even asking !
Right about then or shortly after the tables were balanced. One guy from Acorns table ? and two guys ?? from the very very loud table 1 had busted and we are down to 16 runners so two tables it is.

I get reseated at Acorns table with t25,000 amid friendly calls of "watch it, these too are friends" .

Acorn got short stacked here and pushed twice I think, once on my big blind and I folded a Q rag. The third ? time Acorn pushed, not sure if it was my blind but I had AJs and called for half my stack ....
soooooo my mighty AJs v ....... A4o ........
up pops a damn 4 but I am quite happy to see my man take it and stay in. but that drops me to t15,000 or there abouts and I am quickly blinded down to t8,000 and then along come these two hands ...
sorry Acorn not sure if you were still in or not and rather remiss of me not knowing when and how, exactly, you went out .... the second and third hour are a bit hazy ...

ok so down to t8,000 and I pick up Q6s UTG and manage to limp to the flop for 2k
a Q on the flop the bb ckecks and I bet 2k ... he calls ... bugger, I have a six for a kicker
sure he has the Q and a decent kicker if not a J then certainly a T
on the turn a beautiful 6 ... he checks I bet 2k ... he calls ...
river is a blank and he checks and I bet 4k and he calls ... shit !!
I think my two pair are good and bearing in mind Kenns live lesson re slow rolling ... the guy in the big blind flips over a Q and looks at me ... I quickly turn over both cards declaring my hand ... its good, whew !!

back to t15,000 ( probably closer to t20,000?)

an orbit later, same guy in the bb and I pick up AA ... wheeeeeee
I bet out 5k all fold and bb stares at me and calls
yesssssss an A on the flop ...... oh fuck !! all hearts .....
the bb checks ... I bet 5k .... sod it, not a bad hand to go bust on ... he only calls ...
oh my fucking god ... the other A pops out on the turn ....
I contain myself, I think, he checks and I bet 5k ... he calls
the river is another heart ....
I almost collapse ... I may have misread the cards but I'm sure the four hearts are AJQ9 ...
giving him two shots at the straight flush ....
the bb checks ... I cannot lay down quads ... I bet 10k ... fully expecting to get rolled !
he folds !
back to t35,000 or there abouts.
the blinds got up to 2k/4k and I must have stole a few and got up to t45,000 before both tables dropped to 4 players and

welcome to the final table !

so i am doing ok, a lot more folding. once had 99 and folded to a big raise and a caller. no 9 appeared on the board so a good fold.
the only other thing, sorry two things, I remember from the final table ...

The Classic New Guy Mistake.

still 8 handed, I am on the button. blinds 2k/4k sitting about 6th position chip wise and it folds round to me with A4s. I decide to limp and state "call" and throw my 4 chips in the middle, the small blind does a double take and folds pronto
...the bb rips off his headphones and says "you said call" ... I nod my head ... he pushes all his chips in with a fucking big grin ...
wtf ?? seriously wtf ??
the table explodes into a riot of noise ... some laughing, some exclamations ( the quiet italian on my left silently shakes his head ) the railbirds are squawking like fcuk ...

and yours truly is the centre of attention ...

after the big blind pushes, the dealer turns back to me and says "33k on top ..."
I sit there completely confused ....
the old guy on my right says, quietly, "you called 4k but threw in four 5k chips ... you raised 16k"
and I sit ... well gobsmacked really ... couldn't talk ... grin and bear it baby ... fairly sure I blushed as well.

ooops ... apparently chips speak louder than words ... motherfukker, you dumb motherfukker dD !

in hindsight, I should have called, but at the time I thought, two wrongs do not make a right.
next time baby, I am pushing back.
so half my chips gone in a lapse of concentration. doh ! doh ! doh !

I hang in there for a couple more orbits, two guys bust and we are 6 handed.
The blinds go up to 3k/6k and I am down to t14,000 and UTG ...
last chance to push ...
A8o and I push and the only caller is th bb with his K9s ...
a 9 on the flop and u lose dD

and it might ... should ... have been so much different

LIVE at the Glasgow Apollo - pt 1

welcome back, gentle reader.

can you tell I'm nervous ? can you ? well can you ? can you ?

just a little, methinks.

chatted to acorn ... ok ok so he chatted amicably, I babbled relentlessly ....

can you tell I'm nervous ? can you ? well can you ? can you ?

and what did we chat about ? live poker baby ! live poker.

yer man and I are off to play tonight, in Glasgow, for hopefully, some low stakes STT action. Acorn reckons its five quid entry, single tablers, start when there are 10 interested people. Just thinking ahead to how it will go and I got the shakes ffs ! Hope they are gone by tonight ... yikes ! 3 hrs and I will meet Acorn (for the first time) and all for a 7 o'clock start ... did I mention I was starting to get nervous ?

considering all that's going down in his neck of the woods, he seems quite upbeat and sounds like a nice bloke and I wish him all the very best for the future.
another one of our compadres seems to have thrown in the towel ... da gambler
has bust :( and although I've never met or spoke to him he seems like a genuine nice guy ... don't slow roll him if playing live ... oh, and don't spill his beer either ... he he he
but I sincerely wish him all the best for the future as well.
I really think his "enforced" time away from the felt will do him good. Don't rush to come back too quickly big guy, all the fish will still be here ... and our little blogging community will still be here as well, waiting eagerly for your return :)

btw lmfao @ amatay ... he has a stalker ... and as he commented on someone's blog "this cunt aint my cousin" ... walk softly and carry a big stick ...

for some reason Madonna's "like a virgin" is rattling about in my head ...

Its ok, you can relax, this is a relatively short post and certainly more interesting, from my point of view, about how I took down britblogger13. The fact that I have won two of these things should give all you nlhe donkeys hope !!
Dont get me wrong, I am intensely proud of winning bb8 :)
slightly less so of my play in bb13 ... I had three extreme pieces of luck ... and one hand I thought I played very well ... or did my opponent just play it real bad ? you decide ...

Now, I am not a statistician, but, the total hands played to total hands won, for both tournies, is rather too close together, percentage wise, to be a coincidence.
Are the other winners stats remotely close to these ? or is it just the way I "have" to play to take it down ?

Final Fantasy viii

Edit : I know this is ancient history, but I had written it ... so you are going to have to read it ... or not.
btw - if the formatting is all over the place I do apologize, it was not written directly in blogger :)

I had decided that after last weeks debacle, that no1 priority was not doing the walk of shame and no2 priority was not going out second last !
so, locate the fold botton, hover mouse permanently over it, learn how to left click left click left click
so the first hour was tight tight tight … almost. I had gained a few chips and lost a few chips and after 48mins this happened … so much for tight tight tight for an hour …
a loose call, considering I'd folded K7s A5s Q9s KTs not exactly monsters but worth a cheap flop, in position
I am in the bb for 100 and simon raises all in to 675 and I called
…he flips over 77 and I have JKo ….. Oops !
fortunately a K on the turn saved my blushes and sent simon to the rail in 16th, sorry mate, thought u were just stealin …
and boosted me up to t2000
held onto them until the first break, whew made it for the second hour, so far so good.
(Quixote8 theMilk and cadmunkey had all preceded simon to the rail)
(Quixote8 went after his flopped top pair ran into Tans flopped two pair ! Ouch indeed )
about ten mins into the second hour I took half Tan's chips when I hit my str8 on the river
two hands later and Tan hit the highway, short stacked he pushed with 77 and ran into weegems AQs
an A on the flop and to rub it in an A fell on the river, not a 7 in sight
gg Tan all round but u lose were the comments
shortly after I limp into a 4 way pot, flop 2 Q K, the two faces are suited …
oh oh and I've hit two pair ……….
Stephen bets out for 450 … I raise to 1050 … stephen wisely folds ... whew !!
up to t3700
then on the very next hand I pick up AKo … yikes, my bogey hand !
I raise it to 450 …. And stephen re-raises to 1400 all-in
I don’t think he has a monster, think he is stealing, maybe annoyed at the previous hand ?
so I call and I am rather relieved when he shows K3s
a 558 flop with only one club and the the obligatory A on the river seals stephens fate, out in 10th
up to t5300 ish
the final table
the first hand of the final table this happens, poor Kat :(
Kat limps, pokerdwarf raises, Kat calls
a flop of J 6 Q rainbow and dwarf bets out 900 and Kat raises to 1005, all in and dwarf calls !!
Kat shows KQ and dwarf shows ………….. TT
the turn is a 9 …. Surely even riverstars are not this cruel …. Boom !
An 8 on the riverand dwarf takes it with his rivered str8 .. Wow indeed
….. Poor old Kat out in 9th
welcome to the final table indeed !
2 hands later, yikes things are hotting up, zagga raises, lousaban comes over the top and is all-in, zagga calls
sorry lou but on that 9 high rainbow board even your QQ is no good against zagga's AA
louise out in 8th
it then got pretty aggressive preflop with almost all the raises taking the pot uncontested
then after half an hour this
I got t5000 in the big blind and cloud has 1700 in mid positionand what do I find ?
Very nice methinks QQ :)
and cloud raises it to 600
I have him covered and so re-raise, lets see what ya got there !
cloud calls and his AA hold up well against my QQ
down to t3500 chips
... lol cloud is just above me with t3600
a few hands later and cloud is at it again, this time his AQ is good against AJ for a 7.5k pot … nice one
after 40 minutes an A on the river saves pokermunk3y's ass and crushes, but who else, cloud's 88
and so the pre-flop aggression continued, with most taking the pot down untill zagga calls mauzj's all in pre-flop raise for a 4.5k potmauzj comes out on top !
His TT holding off AK
zagga is down to t1700
after 50 mins I pick up QQ and I'm down to t3500 and zagga down to t1000blinds are 200/400
so I raise to 1200 looking for a call and zagga obliges from the small blind and is all-in
I hit my Q on the flop, didn't need it tho as zagga held 66 and off he went, or was it nacho ??
back up to t5000
the pre-flop aggression continues, a few minutes later and I pick up AJo and min raise … everyone folds and weegen comments "another UTG min-raise"
… looks like some people are getting miffed with all the thieving going on !!
just before the second break and I find KK … guess who raises pre-flop … yep, weegemhe raised to 1200 and I re-raise to 2k … he calls … hmmmm
the flop is 94J rainbow …
looks good for me, so I push all-in, weegem calls for the remainder of his stackand flips over AJo … bugger, TPTK but I am still ahead …I await the A on the river …
…but fcuk me it’s a T on the turn and a Q on the river
yesss ! My KK's are good … wow ! I rivered a straight ! Only on riverstars eh ??
gg weegem but u lose
5 left and I have t13,000 and the clear chip lead
then, quite literally, 2 mins before the second break
I pick up A8o and min-raise only for mauzj to re-raise to 3k all-in
now I have 11.5k and its only 2k to call him …
so I call and he flips over KQo
the board falls 7h 6s Ah Kh 3d and I take it with a pair of A's … happy days :)
only 4 left … who is going to be the bubble boy ??
right after the break cloud raises to 2k and pokerdwarf calls and is all-in

unfortunately for cloud, his 88's are "snow" match for the dwarf's 99 and he doubles up to t4000

yikes AA and I raise to 1600 …. All fold …. Aaaarrrrggghhhhhhhhh

thecloud's revenge !!
cloud raises pokerdwarf re-raises all-in and cloud calls
cloud has JQo and pokerdwarf has ATs
a Q on the board and the bubbleboy is pokerdwarf
double unlucky because there were two of dwarfs suit on the flop, ouch indeed !
